This article explains the use of XML and Java-based messaging technology to integrate data and business processes on the Oracle9i Application Server. XML is to data portability what Java is to application portability in the sense that XML makes data portable and interoperable across heterogeneous systems. XML transforms stored e-business data into portable information that can easily transit among trading partners in both inter- and intraenterprise environments. Java Message Services (JMS), part of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition, developed by Sun (J2EE), is an API for accessing enterprise messaging systems.
